Properties of single neurons in the anterior auditory field (AAF) of cat cerebral cortex

摘要: Abstract In the cortex of 6 anesthetized cats, anterior auditory field (AAF) was defined by microelectrode maps its frequency organization, and responses to monaural binaural tonal stimuli single neurons in that were examined qunatitatively. AAF sharply tuned frequency, had intensity dynamic ranges less than 30–40 dB at best minimum response latencies generally order 10–15 ms. The interactions qualitatively similar those AI cells, with possible exception a relatively greater proportion receiving stronger excitatory input from ipsilateral ear. On basis these data recent anatomical evidence, proposal function as parallel processors ascending acoustic information is discussed.
