摘要: The main objective of the Flemish research project ‘Nanotechnologies for tomorrow’s society’ (NanoSoc) is to develop and try out an interactive process as a suitable methodology rendering nanoresearchers aware underlying assumptions that guide nanotech integrating social considerations into choices they face. In particular, NanoSoc should sustain scientists’ capacities address growing uncertainties on strategic, scientific public acceptance level. article elaborates these involved dilemmas scientists are facing proposes approach which addresses strategic uncertainty by alternating between ‘visioning’ ‘technology assessment’; design manages complexity promoting reflexivity among exposing them deliberations in civil society (social experts, stakeholders, citizens) plausible futures with nanotechnologies; answer societal ambivalence, certain quality requirements such attitude perplexity or openness towards ‘plurality’ ‘temporary closure’, both support understanding learning from differences.
