摘要: Flaviviruses are significant causes of disease worldwide and can be classified serologically into several antigenic complexes. The purpose the present study was to evaluate effectiveness a generic RT-nested-PCR for detection flavivirus during dengue outbreak in Brazil 2008. A total 105 serum samples were collected from patients with fatal outcome examined by RT-PCR, conventional IgM serology. RT-PCR confirmed 19 (18%) cases. Conventional performed on detected 45 (42.8%) virus infections. serology 44 102 (43.1%) infecting serotype identified cases (18 DENV-2 1 DENV-3) (40 5 DENV-3). In addition, we analyzed performance RT-PCRs stratified day onset symptoms. Our results indicate that different methods should included surveillance programs, including virological serological approaches.
