摘要: Due to their worldwide importance for human and animal health, schistosomes are in the focus of national international research activities. Their aims elucidate genome, transcriptome, proteome glycome with expectation understand biology these blood flukes identify new candidate antigens development a vaccine, or target molecules design novel pharmaceutical compounds. All efforts have delivered vast amount information about genetic equipment schistosomes. In emerging era post-genomic research, however, methods tools necessary interpret all available data characterise interest more detail. addition transgenesis, it is generally accepted that cell lines among requirements overcome present limitations. our commentary prospect establishing cultures discussed. To this end we summarise comprehensive endeavours made past regarding establishment invertebrate pointing critical parameters should be considered when making attempts towards schistosome culturing. Furthermore, based on preliminary pilot-character, discuss recent advances indicating possibility overcoming existing restrictions respect 'immortalisation' cells by oncogenes.
