摘要: Abstract It is widely recognized that the complex relationship between humans, soil, and water has become increasingly complicated due to anthropogenic activities, further expected worsen in future as a result of population dynamics climate change. The present study aims at shedding light on multifaceted links floods, landscape modifications, coastal lowlands, using large flood-prone area (the Polesine Region, northeastern Italy) significant case study. Based analysis historical events results hydraulic modeling, it shown human interventions both subsoil have substantially altered flood dynamics, exacerbating hazard. Furthermore, combined people assets exposure inundation reveals risk not properly taken into account land-use planning, nor understood by living areas subject low-probability, high-impact events.
