摘要: The incidence of bacterial infections occurring in 132 residents a Veterans Administration hospital-based nursing home care unit (VA NHCU) was studied retrospectively over 1 yr period. There were total 35 non-Foley-catheter-related documented during this time, 21 residents. Of these infections, 14 pulmonary, 18 urinary and 3 the integument. 23 having indwelling catheters, 47.8% became clinically symptomatic due to infection at least one time year. Thirty-six per cent Pseudomonas aeruginosa 48% E. coli Proteus mirabilis. Eighteen (78.3%) with Foley catheters had more than predominant organism cultured from their urine year, making practice monthly cultures not very useful considering treatment. If grouped all tract on NHCU, major pathogens (19.5%), Klebsiella (17.1%). (17.1%) (14.6%). Documented pulmonary predominantly Streptococcus pneumonia (50.0%) Hemophilus influenza (35.7%). Our data suggest that location institutional setting must be considered caring for elderly resident skilled facility. Future plans establish hospital based units consider benefits resulting easy access acute health educational programs against problems flora.
