Influence of doping concentration on microstructure evolution and sintering kinetics of Er:YAG transparent ceramics

摘要: Abstract Erbium doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG) transparent ceramics with different Er doping concentrations were fabricated from powder mixtures of α-Al2O3, Y2O3, and Er2O3 tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) MgO as sintering aids by solid-state reactive sintering. The temperatures 1500 °C up to 1750 °C. Densification, microstructure evolution optical transparency Er:YAG examined. For all the concentration, fully dense homogeneous grain size distributions around 20–23 μm obtained at 1750 °C for 50 h, whose transmittances above 83% wavelength 1200 nm. growth kinetic was also investigated a function erbium content. calculated activation energies 0.5, 1.0, 5.0, 10 at%Er:YAG 779, 855, 805, 861 kJ/mol, respectively. luminescence spectra measured discussed.
