Evaluation of herbs as potential drugs/medicines.

摘要: Herbal drugs have been used since ancient times as medicines for the treatment of a wide range diseases, both human and livestock. A study conducted in Lake Victoria Basin Kenya revealed vast knowledge reliance on traditional medicine source healthcare. The documented 34 medicinal plant species distributed among 21 botanical families genera, management ailments. highest numbers were from Asteraceae Leguminosae. most commonly harvested parts leaves (46.51%) roots (34.88%). common growth forms utilised herbs (40.54%) followed by shrubs (27.03%). major methods herbal drug preparation concoction (31.03%) decoction (24.14%) administered mainly through oral dermal routes, (64.29%) (32.14%) respectively. use mixtures was reported to be practice practitioners; 57.14% preparations dispensed while 42.86% composed single plants. rich plants recognized phytochemical bioactivity analyses these are recommended determine their safety efficacy.
