摘要: The observation that cancer cachexia is associated with specific metabolic abnormalities has stimulated several investigators to attempt correct these deficiencies the hopes it would nutritionally benefit patient malignant disease. Initial enthusiasm for this approach emerged about 25 years ago when total parenteral nutrition was first introduced into clinical medicine. provision of exogenous macronutrients depleted often resulted in weight gain and improved tolerance anti-neoplastic therapies. More recently, use nutrients reverse or combat become focus study. amino acid which received most attention regard been glutamine interest grown reasons. Glutamine absent from commercially available TPN formulations. Although abundant body, a marked depletion observed host correction deficit using glutamine-enriched feedings may translate functional improvements. shown be regulator muscle protein synthesis, suggesting net catabolism patients related altered metabolism. Furthermore, principal fuel rapidly proliferating cancers.
