Online detection of crack damage in composite plates using embedded piezoelectric actuators/sensors and wavelet analysis

摘要: The method for online detection of initial damage in composite structures proposed this paper is based on energy variation structural dynamic responses decomposed using wavelet analysis. It much more sensitive than the existing methods, and it can detect extremely small cracks plates. results obtained study show that smallest detectable crack may reach dimension width 0.1 mm length 2.3 mm, area containing only 0.06% total plate. In addition, piezoelectric smart materials embedded laminated are used as both actuators sensors. situ active be implemented combination with signal processing vibration This suitable inaccessible severe environments without an additional excitation facility. make in-service inspection safe, reliable affordable.
