摘要: The identification of appropriate laboratory measures to confirm clinical hypotheses is important in routine paracoccidioidomycosis medical care. records and reports 401 patients attended at the Tropical Diseases Area, Faculdade de Medicina Botucatu, from 1974 2008 were reviewed. Direct mycological (DM), cell block (CB), histopathological (HP), double immunodiffusion (DID) tests evaluated before treatment. Typical Paracoccidioides brasiliensis yeast forms observed specimens 86% patients, but 14% detected only by serological test. DM 51 different tissue produced 74.5% sensitivity, 62.5% sensitivity was 112 sputum samples. CB 483 samples generated 55.3% sensitivity. HP performed 239 tissues revealed 96.7% Serology carried out 351 200 healthy controls provided 90.0% 100.0% specificity, positive predictive value, 85.1% negative value 93.6% accuracy. Comparisons measurements same patient showed that decreases DID DM, with last two assays providing similar sensitivities. This study demonstrated P. HP, CB, and/or associated sufficient establish laboratorial diagnosis practically all cases.
