摘要: EGFR and KRAS mutation analyses are of increasing importance for guiding the treatment non–small cell lung carcinomas. Insufficient cellularity blocks can represent an impediment to performance these tests. We investigated usefulness cytologic direct smears as alternative specimen source testing. Tumor cell–enriched areas from freshly prepared archived rapid Romanowsky–stained in 33 cases carcinoma were microdissected DNA isolation evaluated mutations. mutations detected 3 adenocarcinomas; 2 tumors had L858R substitution 1 exon 19 deletion. affecting codon 12, 13, or 61 11 (8 adenocarcinomas carcinomas). mutually exclusive. Hence, a robust valuable molecular studies, especially when exhibit insufficient cellularity.
