摘要: Dramatic alterations occur in the developing olfactory bulb when air flow is reduced through one-half of nasal cavity. Naris closure on day after birth (P1) rats, for example, results cell survival ipsilateral by P20 and a substantial (25%) decrease size P30. Almost immediate changes protein synthesis metabolism are also observed, one prevalent theory suggests that these may be important specifying which cells subsequently eliminated. In present study we used reversible technique unilateral naris to examine sensitive period effects deprivation survival. This involves insertion removable plugs into rat pup's external naris. We occluded increasing periods time (P1-P10, P1-P15, or P1-P20), reared all animals P30, measured volumes laminae. addition, examined duration needed affect injecting with thymidine analogue bromodeoxyuridine label born soon onset deprivation. Results indicate relatively long occlusion (P1-P15 longer) required produce reduction experimental size. Cell was decreased following from P1 P10, but not P3. These data support hypothesis within 48 h sufficient
