摘要: MEK1 is a dual specificity kinase that phosphorylates and activates the Erk/MAP kinases Erk-1 Erk-2 by phosphorylating them on threonine tyrosine. We report cloning of second MEK-like complementary DNA, Mek2, which predicts protein molecular weight 44,500. The MEK2 bears substantial sequence homology to MEK1, except at its amino terminus, proline-rich region insert between conserved subdomains 9 10. are shown be encoded different genes located murine chromosomes 10, respectively. Northern analysis indicates Mek2 expressed low levels in adult mouse brain heart tissue, higher other tissues examined. Low expression tissue contrast high Mek1 brain. neonatal brain, however. Recombinant produced bacteria kinase-inactive tyrosine threonine, whereas mutant does not. These findings suggest member multigene family.
