Fluorescein leakage test: a useful tool in ocular safety assessment.

摘要: Abstract The fluorescein leakage test (FLT) provides information on the effects of xenobiotics impermeability (gate function) epithelial cell monolayers, and their recovery after exposure. aim this study was to assess validity in ocular safety assessment surfactant-based products with various irritant potencies. Madin-Darby canine kidney cells were grown confluency microporous membranes exposed for 15 min increasing concentrations substances. Damage evaluated by measuring amount Na-fluorescein that passed through monolayer 30 min, starting just Recovery assessed 4, 24, 48 72 hr later.
