摘要: One-lung ventilation (OLV) is the intentional collapse of one lung during surgical procedures in chest. The objective this report to demonstrate that a piglet model pediatric OLV mimics clinical sequelae, and thus valid study protective interventions. Pediatric pigs (n = 7; 21 ± 1 d old; 7.7 0.5 kg) were instrumented ex- posed (left collapsed) for 3 hrs, followed by 30 min bilateral (BLV) before sacrifice tissue harvest. Pulmonary compliance (Cp) resistance (Rp) measured half-hourly plasma samples drawn hourly inflammatory cytokine analysis. Cp dropped 86% Rp rose 148% baseline with OLV, which consistent observations given anatomical differences pig thorax. Plasma levels TNF- IL- 6 throughout protocol, observations. Lung histology showed greater atelectasis col- lapsed lungs following BLV. OLV-induced injury may be useful potential therapies improve outcomes population.
