摘要: Environmental stressors are adversely affecting coral reef ecosystems. There is ample evidence that scleractinian growth and physiology may be compromised by reduced pH, elevated temperature, this exacerbated local environmental stressors. The Gulf of Aqaba considered a refuge from acidification warming but coastal development nutrient effluent pose threat. This study examined the effects select forecasted changes (acidification, warming, increased nutrients) individually in combination on holobiont Stylophora pistillata to understand how corals potential global climate change refugia fare face eutrophication. results indicate interactions between all stressors, with concentrations having broadest individual additive impacts upon performance S. pistillata. These findings highlight importance maintaining oligotrophic conditions secure these reefs as refugia.
