摘要: The ability of iron to stimulate the growth L1210 cells both in DBA-2 mice and cell culture is evaluated. Although vitro stimulation absent, vivo studies clearly indicate higher numbers tumor presence supplemental iron. When were given i.p., at levels comparable clinical doses for humans (24 mg/kg body weight), load recovered from their peritoneum was substantially greater than controls without supplements. Furthermore, (250 mg Fe/kg pretreated animals inoculated with died 9.7 d whereas 12.2 (i.e., 25% faster). As expected, lower dose mg/kg) also resulted shorter life spans, although effects less striking. It belief these authors that data support opinion "anemia chronic disease" associated leukemia possibly other malignancies may represent a host defense mechanism as has been postulated by others (1, 8).
