摘要: Sympathetic neurons innervate the heart early in postnatal development, an event that is crucial for proper modulation of blood pressure and cardiac function. However, axon guidance cues direct sympathetic to heart, neuronal receptors recognize those cues, are poorly understood. Here we present evidence interactions between α4β1 integrin on vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) plays a role innervation. The α4 subunit was detected rat superior cervical ganglion (SCG) culture cryosections SCG heart. VCAM-1 immunoreactivity myocytes associate with invading neurons. Purified recombinant soluble (rsVCAM-1) stimulated neurite outgrowth at levels comparable laminin 2/4 fibronectin (Fn), rs-VCAM-1 Fn blocked by antibodies specific β1 subunits. Intrathoracic injection function-blocking VCAM-1, as well small molecule inhibitor integrins, significantly reduced innervation These results indicate interaction important
