摘要: Abstract A scalable technique was introduced to produce high volume lightweight composites using sheet molding compound (SMC) manufacturing method by replacing 10 wt% glass fibers (GF) with a small amount of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC). The incorporation 1 and 1.5 wt% CNC dispersing in the epoxy matrix short GF/epoxy SMC 25 wt% GF content (25GF/CNC-epoxy) produced 7.5% lighter same tensile flexural properties 35GF/epoxy no CNC. addition 1 wt% 25GF/CNC-epoxy resulted increases 15% elastic modulus, 11% modulus 14% strength, reaching corresponding composites. Moreover, it found that although did not alter impact energy, removing reduction energy.
