摘要: Blueberries contain an array of phytochemicals that may decrease both inflammatory and oxidative stress. This study determined if pterostilbene, resveratrol, two anthocyanins commonly found in blueberries, delphinidin-3-O-glucoside malvidin-3-O-glucoside, would be efficacious protecting microglia from inflammatory-induced stress signaling. Microglia were pretreated with blueberry extract (0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 mg/mL) or its components (1, 10, 20, 30 μM delphinidin-3-O-glucoside, malvidin-3-O-glucoside) prior to exposure lipopolysaccharide (100 ng/mL) demonstrated concentration-dependent reductions nitric oxide tumor necrosis factor-alpha release decreased expression inducible synthase cyclooxygenase-2. However, much higher concentrations the individual than those blueberries needed demonstrate effects. For example, 1 mg/mL significantly reduced LPS-induced release; this concentration contains 2.6 but when malvidin-3-O-glucoside was tested individually, 20 necessary observe a significant reduction release. Therefore protective effects not due any one component, rather synergism activity compounds and/or other here. These results lend further support active are able combat some mediators aging at cellular level.
