摘要: Conflicting data have been published about osteoporosis and bone turnover markers in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). The aim of this study was to determine mineral density (BMD) the lateral lumbar spine a group male AS investigate relationship between clinical parameters turnover. Thirty-two consecutive mean disease duration 14.8 years 32 control subjects were included. Demographic characteristics recorded. Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) used activity disease. BMD determined for both groups. Serum osteocalcin urinary N-telopeptide measured as patient Although values tended be lower than group, difference not statistically significant. Osteoporosis observed 11 (34.3%) 2 (6.2%) group. Osteocalcin levels significantly higher comparison (p < 0.05). In subgroup analysis according disease, erythrocyte sedimentation rate severely active when compared that mild or moderate Active had N-Telopeptide BASDAI scores correlated each other. incidence is high patients, are especially at risk developing osteoporosis. monitoring indices may help predict risk. Prophylactic therapeutic strategies needed struggle against loss disabling condition.
