摘要: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) has recently emerged as a potential treatment for medically intractable neuropsychiatric disorders. Pilot clinical studies with encouraging results have been performed DBS of the ventral anterior internal capsule (VAIC) and subgenual cingulate white matter (Cg25WM) obsessive-compulsive disorder depression. However, little is known about underlying response individual neurons, or networks they are connected to, when applied to VAIC Cg25WM. This review summarizes current understanding axons DBS, discusses general network architectures thought underlie We also employ diffusion tensor imaging tractography better understand axonal trajectories surrounding electrodes implanted in Finally, we attempt reconcile various data sets by presenting generalized hypotheses on therapeutic mechanisms disease.
