摘要: Perillyl alcohol is a natural product from cherries and other edible plants. d-limonene, closely related dietary monoterpene, have chemotherapeutic activity against pancreatic, mammary, prostatic tumors. In addition, perillyl alcohol, limonene, monoterpenes chemopreventive activity. Several mechanisms may account for the antitumorigenic effects of monoterpenes. For example, many inhibit post-translational isoprenylation cell growth-regulatory proteins such as Ras. induces apoptosis without affecting rate DNA synthesis in both liver pancreatic tumor cells. monoterpene-treated, regressing rat mammary tumors exhibit increased expression transforming growth factor β concomitant with remodeling/redifferentiation to more benign phenotype. Monoterpenes are effective, nontoxic antitumor agents which act through variety action hold promise novel class drugs human cancer.
