摘要: Dominance is one of the most pervasive and important behaviors among wolves in a pack, yet its significance free-ranging packs has been little studied. Insights into behavior can often be gained by examining unusual examples it. In High Arctic near Eureka, Nunavut, Canada, we videotaped described an unusually prolonged intensive behavioral bout between adult male Gray Wolf ( Canis lupus ) member his thought to maturing son. With tail raised, approached pack mate about 50 m from us pinned straddled this packmate repeatedly over 6.5 minutes, longer than had ever seen years studying wolves. We interpreted as extreme example wolf harassing offspring, perhaps prelude offspring's dispersal.
