摘要: We evaluated the accuracy and precision of tooth wear for aging gray wolves (Canis lupus) from Alaska, Minnesota, Ontario based on 47 known-age or known-minimum-age skulls. Estimates age using a commercial cementum annuli-aging service were useful up to 14 years old. The estimates annuli was greater than wear, but are more applicable in field. tended overestimate by 1-2 occasionally 3 4 years. aged young with within ±1 year actual age, under estimated ages ≥9 old 1-3 No differences detected patterns wild Ontario, nor between captive wolves. Tooth not appropriate an underbite that prevented normal severely broken missing teeth.
