摘要: The presence of estrogenic substances in thewater the small streams Korsch (Ko)and Krahenbach (Kr), Southwest Germany, wasdetermined by chemical and biological analysis.Because a large proportion Ko waternear its mouth consists sewage treatmentplant (STPs) effluents, impact STPs onlevels estrogens surface water is anenvironmental issue concern. In July 1996,water samples were taken from Kr Ko(four sites) tested E-Screen assaywith human MCF-7 breast cancer cells. AllKo induced estrogen-dependent cellproliferation resulting 17β-estradiolequivalent concentrations (EEQ) between 3.3 and9.7 ng/L while showed no effect. In 1998/99 eight (near itsmouth) nine collectedand after solid phaseextraction. Some estrogenicity was detectablein three but had amedian EEQ 3.1 (range: 1.2–42 ng/L).GC/MS analysis revealed differences thelevels 17β-estradiol estronebetween two streams. 17β-estradiolwas detectable five only (0.7–1.8 ng/L). Estrone found Kofrom 2.5 to 38 (median: 7.6 ng/L) inthe 0.8 22 1.7 Analysis for phenolic xenoestrogensrevealed rather low levels compoundswhich occurred more frequently higherconcentrations Ko. After asemi-field exposure adult male rainbow troutfor 4 weeks water, plasmavitellogenin significantly highercompared those detected sameanimals before exposure.
