摘要: When treating diabetic cats, the primary aim is to control clinical signs without causing hypoglycaemia. Secondary goals are maximise chances of attaining remission and minimise risk complications due chronic hyperglycaemia. A treatment plan that convenient for owner important compliance. Underweight or overweight cats should be fed with normalising bodyweight. Current evidence suggests non-obese can ad libitum. The oral hypoglycaemic drug glipizide well established as a about third which have residual beta cell function. Preliminary studies on other agents such vanadium salts, metformin, troglitazone indicate potential use in some cats. Insulin remains choice majority Choice insulin, dose rates monitoring discussed.
