摘要: Abstract This paper presents experimental investigations on aqueous dispersion of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Three approaches are considered to improve MWCNTs dispersion; through functionalization (1) with surfactants, (2) oxidative acid treatment and (3) metal decoration. The first approach investigated the stability using different surfactants. In second approach, surface is functionalized nitric facilitate MWCNTs. third decorated silver nanoparticles their behavior investigated. experiments surfactant addition, ideal type concentration found as acacia gum at 1 surfactant:MWCNTs weight ratio, which yielded highest zeta potential value 26.7 mV. an improved by visual observation fluid over a period three months no trace sedimentation. Visual fluids prepared silver-decorated showed weak behavior. Thermal conductivity enhancement nanofluids 0.1 wt% nanoparticle loading calculated 5.84% for MWCNT nanofluids, 8.14% acid-functionalized 8.85% surfactant-functionalized nanofluids. Functionalization two useful methods enhanced thermal dispersions.
