Households' preferences and willingness to pay for multiple use water services in rural areas of South Africa : an analysis based on choice modelling

摘要: Financing of multiple use (i.e. domestic and productive) water services was identified as an important ingredient to ensure improved access for rural poor broaden livelihood options in South Africa. Following the principles integrated resource management (IWRM), efficient, equitable sustainable investments should be based on a thorough understanding actual demand by consumers. Comprehensive studies looking at are not common African areas, where most economic analyses focus either or irrigation demand. This study aims filling this gap assessing household Sekororo-Letsoalo area Limpopo Province. Choice modelling is approach used identify attributes determining quantify their relative importance. Results show that households areas willing pay improvements services. Due current level area, users primarily concerned with basic uses and, consequently, productive low. Only already relatively well served interested engaging uses.
