摘要: OBJECTIVES AND DESIGN: It has been previously reported that α-defensin (HNPs) and β-defensin-2 (HBD-2) peptides with antifungal cytotoxic activities can be detected in oral carcinomas the saliva of patients carcinomas. The present study investigated presence HNPs HBD-2 epithelia candidiasis. MATERIALS METHODS: Tissue sections (4 μm) were prepared from biopsy surgically removed specimens diagnosed as candidiasis (n=10). examined immunohistochemically antibodies directed against HBD-2. RESULTS: Tissue immunostained antidefensin antibodies. Neutrophils inflamed lamina propria positively anti-HNPs antibody. cytoplasm cells upper spinous layer, lower layer parakeratinized buccal was intensely anti-HBD-2 In contrast, expression normal much weaker than candidiasis. No signals found epithelium. CONCLUSION: Buccal individuals show greater levels both HBD-2. There might a dual protection manner by defensins fungal inflammation infected locally. Generally, have everywhere epithelium; however, an area, signal intensity increased. not increased when infection occurred.
