摘要: A low-grade inflammatory response is commonly seen in the peripheral blood of major depressive disorder (MDD) patients, especially those with refractory and chronic disease courses. However, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), most drastic intervention reserved for these closely associated an enhanced haematogenous as well neuroinflammatory immune response, evidenced by both human animal studies. related line experimental evidence further shows that stimulation reinforces neurotrophin expression may even mediate dramatic neurogenic antidepressant-like effects following exposure to stress. The current review therefore attempts a synthesis our knowledge on neurotrophic immunological aspects ECT other electrically based treatments psychiatry. Perhaps contrary contemporary views, we conclude targeted potentiation, rather than suppression, responses be therapeutic relevance chronically depressed patients or subgroup thereof.
