Effects of bariatric surgery on obese polycystic ovary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis

摘要: Abstract Background Bariatric surgery has been widely used for the treatment of obesity and its related metabolic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes (T2D), hypertension, sleep apnea syndrome. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common reproductive endocrine disease; however, little attention paid to efficacy bariatric on PCOS. Objective To evaluate obese PCOS patients. Setting A systematic review meta-analysis at university hospital. Methods Online databases were searched all studies reporting patients with up October 2018. Results total 9 234 included in this article. The results showed that after surgery, there was significant reduction incidence abnormal menstruation (relative risk [RR] .23; 95% confidence interval [CI] .13–.43; P Conclusions can reduce menstruation, improve hyperandrogenism clinical manifestations, decrease body mass index, prevalence T2D, and hypertension
