Compilation of historical floods catalog of northwestern Algeria: first step towards an atlas of extreme floods

摘要: Floods are among the significant natural hazards in Algeria. They cause severe casualties, damage to building and destruction of roads, public works, infrastructures. Northwestern Algeria has experienced devastating floods past that caused considerable damage, e.g., Mohammadia 1881, Mostaganem 1927, El Asnam 1966. Analysis historical is one major tools flood hazard assessment enables predicting future events. One objectives this work address gap available information regarding happened Algeria, particularly during times. The first data analysis we performed on basis an intensive survey shows study area subject flooding. This inventory step towards zonation construction atlas extreme northwestern catalog contains more than 127 documented As results, paper presents a method compiling flooding obtained database which represents contribution risk assessment.
