Modeling of ultrafiltration process for a two-component aqueous solution of low and high (gel-forming) molecular weight solutes

摘要: Filtration of sucrose from a mixture and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) was studied in stirred ultrafiltration cell. PVA formed gel layer completely rejected by the membrane. Two membranes different molecular weight cut-off, namely, 1 K 10 were chosen. By former, partially retained latter, it permeable absence PVA. A mathematical model formulated for simultaneous prediction permeate flux observed rejection sucrose. The characteristics other relevant parameters determined independent sets experiments. It that steady-state pressure equal to gel-forming component alone (in permeating solute). Profiles with time agreed well experimental observations.
