摘要: OBJECTIVES Many factors influence the career specialty decisions made by medical students. The aim of this study was to broaden consideration determinants choice in a large population students their sixth year study. METHODS A total 2588 distributed across all 39 schools France participated National Practice Examination December 2008, after which an electronic questionnaire administered. Study criteria were: characteristics; demographics, and motivation for drawbacks choice. RESULTS 1780 (1111 women, 62%) responded (69% response rate). mean age respondents 23.8 years (22-35 years). Of these, 1555 (87%) stated preferred specialty. Surgical specialties were two selected most frequently (n = 729, 47%). General practice chosen 20%. Gender influenced specialty: 88% future paediatricians, 82% gynaecologists 77% general practitioners (GPs) women (p < 0.05). Main motivating included interesting diseases, opportunities private patient contact. limiting other poor quality life, exclusively hospital-based loss criterion associated with significant differences or discouragement from career.
