摘要: Abstract A distinct subpopulation of neurons forming long corticocortical projections in the association neocortex is highly vulnerable to degenerative process Alzheimer’s disease. However, degree which age-related molecular and morphologic alterations identifiable neuronal populations reflects early cellular degeneration leading functional deficits has not yet been fully investigated aging brain. We performed an immunohistochemical analysis short young old monkeys using antibodies GluR2 NMDAR1 glutamate receptor subunit proteins. Projection differed their expression these subunits, as was less prevalent than among retrogradely labeled neurons. Long pathways animals demonstrated a considerable decrease proportions projection containing NMDAR1, observation that particularly consistent case GluR2. No differences were observed distribution neurofilament protein either type These data suggest cortical furnishing display neurochemical changes during differential proteins occurs. The fact have lower levels individuals, but comparatively higher GluR2, may render them prone calcium-mediated excitotoxicity, humans be related selective vulnerability such course Also, it apparent are quite subtle involve subcellular components circuits rather major alterations.
