摘要: This chapter traces ‘capability’ as a topic of educational concern and ongoing debate, exploring what is meant by the philosophical concept in international lineage philosophy. Its purpose first to clarify situate meaning within historical contemporary debates philosophy, and, second, explore relationship between specific accounts capability notions equality social justice education. While term has been used philosophers education denote theoretical framework for thinking about – The Capability Approach also understood more broadly terms power or potential individual students relative interaction their capacities with environments, access, opportunities. Literature philosophy that considers this latter, general way looks at role institutions, structures, practices enabling disabling forms limiting effects categories difference related individuals’ perceived assessed capacities.
