摘要: Centrioles are microtubule (MT)-based cylinders that form centrosomes and can be modified into basal bodies template the axoneme, ciliary MT skeleton. These MT-based structures present in all branches of eukaryotic tree life, where they have important sensing, motility cellular architecture-organizing functions. Moreover, altered several human conditions diseases, including sterility, ciliopathies cancer. Although ultrastructure centrioles derived organelles has been known for over 50 years, molecular basis their remarkably conserved properties, such as 9-fold symmetry, only now started to unveiled. Recent advances imaging, proteomics crystallography, allowed building 3D models with unprecedented details, leading a much better understanding assembly function. Here, we cover progress this field, focusing on mechanisms centriole cilia assembly.
