摘要: In this study, we have investigated the efficacy of crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel as a wound dressing material, using rat animal model. The was synthesized by chemical crosslinking PVA with potassium persulphate and reaction parameters were optimized. developed found to possess excellent mechanical properties, high water absorption capacity, gel content, optimum vapor transmission rate, indicating its ability act an effective material. inherent nontoxic characteristics remained unaltered after crosslinking. in vitro diffusion studies bovine serum albumin (BSA) model protein, indicated relatively slow release protein resulting from microencapsulation polymeric matrix. For vivo studies, full-thickness excision wounds (2 × 2 cm2) made on dorsal surface rats. applied changed at regular intervals. comparison healing ability, radiation PVA-based hydrogel, “HiZel” used reference control. treated healed faster increased rate contraction (16.5 days versus 22.0 control group). Treatment “Hizel” led increase hydroxyproline tissue, whereas treatment both well hexosamine. This probably provides added strength thereby that had higher than “Hizel”. results suggest chemically could be © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009
