摘要: Defining environmental chemistry is a not an easy task because it encompasses many different topics. According to Stanley E. Manahan, author of classical textbook Environmental Chemistry, this branch could be defined as the one centered in study sources, transport, effects and fates chemical species water, soil, air environments, well influence human activity upon these processes. More recently, new knowledge emerged from Toxicology allowed go even deeper meaning 'effects' 'fates' continuous growing number organic inorganic disposed water bodies, soils atmosphere. Toxicity tests became important tool evaluate impact such great organisms, thus allowing set quality criteria for drinking sediments biota. The state art shows that multi-inter disciplinary science by nature; therefore, needs more than limited, unique-approach non-oriented data understand nature natural Taking all aspects into consideration, can say Chemistry Brazil now established area research within areas with large emerging groups worldwide recognition.
