摘要: In the normal adult artery majority of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are confined to media vessel. These VSMCs undergo little if any growth and express muscle-specific contractile proteins which enable them maintain tone. However, abnormal VSMC occurs in a number disease processes. hypertension wall becomes thickened as result (probably hypertrophy) within media. The increased lumen ratio results an elevated resistance maintains hypertension. By contrast, obliterative conditions such atherosclerosis migrate into intima proliferate. intimal differ from medial that they contain few filaments many synthetic organelles allow synthesise secrete extracellular matrix contribute bulk lesion.
