The new face of nucleolin in human melanoma

摘要: Nucleolin is multifunctional protein mainly present in nucleoli but also detected cytoplasm and plasma membranes. Extranuclear nucleolin differs from the nuclear form by its glycosylation. Studies on expression of breast cancer suggest a possible association to metastatic cascade. In study, Vicia villosa lectin (VVL) precipitation followed subsequent polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis mass spectrometry analysis demonstrates as VVL-positive glycoprotein expressed melanoma. The presence melanoma cell membrane was confirmed confocal microscopy. Using bioinformatic peptide prediction programs, shown contain multiple MHC class-I binding peptides sequence which makes an interesting marker target for immunodiagnostic possibly therapeutic purposes.
