摘要: Chemically functionalized surfaces may be produced via plasma polymerization, however a high degree of functional group retention is often difficult to achieve. Here, the polymerization three structurally related ester precursors, ethyl isobutyrate (EIB), methyl (MIB) and trimethylacetate (ETMA) compared at low pressure. In moving from pressure higher regime, significant changes in chemistry resulting polymer deposit were observed with much chemical functionality observed. Until now these would have been attributed decrease energy/molecule, we show by direct measurement physics that there fundamental shift properties surface interactions which explain results. At (α regime) precursor fragmentation neutral deposition dominate poor retention. Increasing such sheath region close becomes collisional (γ favours production protonated ions retain process rather than radical species.
