摘要: Abstract Background Rejoining of cut tissue ends a critical site challenges clinicians. The toxicity, antigenicity, low adhesive strength, flexibility, swelling and cost the currently employed glue demands an alternative. Engineered gelatin–keratin (EGK-glue) described in present study was found to be suitable for wet approximation. Methods EGK-glue prepared by engineering gelatin with caffeic acid using EDC conjugating keratin periodate oxidation. UV–visible, 1H NMR circular dichroism analyses followed experiments on gelation time, rheology, gel strength (in vitro), approximation vivo), H&E staining sections at scheduled time intervals tensile healed skin were carried out assess effectiveness comparison fibrin cyanoacrylate. Results CD confirmed functionalization secondary structural changes. Increasing concentration reduces ( Conclusions Imparting quinone moiety conjugates through weaker oxidizing agent provides appreciable hemocompatible, cytocompatible biodegradable properties, which, rejoin effectively. General significance obtained finds wide biomedical/clinical applications.
