摘要: BACKGROUND: Recent longitudinal studies demonstrate that addiction risk may be influenced by a cognitive, affective and behavioral phenotype emerges during childhood. Relatively little research has focused on the or emotional components of this high-risk phenotype, including relevant neurobiology. METHODS: Non-substance abusing youth (N=19; mean age=12.2) with externalizing psychopathology paternal history substance use disorder demographically matched healthy comparisons (N=18; age=11.9) were tested facial emotion matching task functional MRI. This involved faces emotions (angry, anxious) shape orientation. RESULTS: High-risk exhibited increased medial prefrontal, precuneus occipital cortex activation compared to comparison group face condition, relative control condition. The correlated positively parent-rated regulation impairments in group. CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest preexisting abnormality cortical response at high for development problem drug alcohol use. deficits underlie impaired processing regulation, which turn contribute escalating adolescence.
