摘要: Tissue samples ofMacrocystis pyrifera from 2 sites in southern New Zealand and harvested over a period of 12 months were analysed for alginate content composition (M:G ratio). Plants divided into three frond classes different length each was further separated age categories blades stipes (viz young, mature old blades; stipes). Within size class, younger had higher than older blades. Stipes did not show such variation with age. Alginate proportions mannuronic acid residues those stipes. The range M:G ratios either or longer fronds greater smaller fronds. always difference between ones. Differences collection seasonal trends are also discussed.
