摘要: Algal species Raphidocelis subcapitata and Chlorella vulgaris are commonly used to test the chemicals with an antibacterial mode of action during marketing authorization process. However, significant differences in sensitivity toward antibiotic exposure have been reported. The selection inappropriate would thus underestimate environmental hazard target pose a potential threat ecosystem. Since oxidative stress is crucial factor determining inhibition algal growth, investigation on antioxidant defense mechanisms these two was performed explore its roles sensitivity. Here, roxithromycin (ROX), macrolide extensively treat respiratory, urinary soft tissue infections, for testing. After 7 days ROX at low (0.01 mg L−1) high (0.09 mg L−1) concentrations, R. inhibited while growth C. stimulated. We investigated algae by measuring biomarkers (MDA), non-enzymatic antioxidants (GSH), enzymes (SOD, CAT, GP, GST). results suggested that when inhibited, MDA content as well activities increase, thus, activating system. On contrary, it inferred stimulated, decrease.
