摘要: Abstract Rapid advances in technologies have accelerated the timeline for public use of fully-automated and communications-connected vehicles. Public opinion on self-driving vehicles or AVs is evolving rapidly, many behavioral questions not yet been addressed. This study emphasizes AV mode choices, including Americans’ willingness to pay (WTP) ride with a stranger shared fleet vehicle various trip types long-distance travel impacts AVs. Exactly 2,588 complete responses stated-preference survey 70 provide valuable insights privacy concerns, safety dynamic ride-sharing strangers, preferences smarter transport systems. Two hurdle models (which allow high share zero-value responses) were estimated: one predict WTP another determine anonymize location while using AVs, multinomial logit was developed estimate choices SAVs available. Results suggest that rides will rise over time, variety reasons, SAV be particularly popular business travel. Elasticity estimates may an important concern AV-based
