摘要: Two species of warthogs (Phacochoerus), differing by the number functional incisors, were described in Holocene fossil record: common warthog (P. africanus), widespread sub-Sahar-an Africa, and Cape, or desert aethiopicus), which was considered extinct since 1896, but recently rediscovered East Africa morphological analyses. Mitochondrial single-copy nuclear DNA sequences show that belong to two deeply divergent monophyletic lineages, might have originated last part Pliocene.
